SANTA ANITA

WORKING AT NIGHT: Was exiting our HTW. She went off at 3-1 and ran a winning race just getting nosed by the very fast odds-on Around the Twig, who shot to the front. Working At Night was between horses, then went wide on the first turn and four wide into the stretch. Came on strong, but lost the bob. We will keep this girl on our HTW list as she looks to be a good one in the making. $$$

CELESTIC NIGHT: Had the dreaded 1 post position in this 6½ furlong downhill turf sprint. Jockey Gomez gave him the perfect ride but he just got outrun by Diamond Geezah breaking from the 8 post in this field of 8. Celestic was claimed by Mike Mitchell. If he gets a good draw to the outside we will be digging very deep to bet on this one. $$$$$

YODELEN DAN: Was best in here but was down on the inside and when he looked to be ready to roll. There was no room and P Val had to check him off heels in midstretch. Rallied between horses and surged in deep stretch but missed by a nostril. With a clean trip there will be no mistakes for this guy going long on the grass even for the ice cold Jeff Mullins.

PINK BLANKET: We had two exiting our HTW list in this race– the winner Home Sweet Aspen and Pink Blanket. Pink was bumped and steadied hard when she got between horses at the start. Never got into the race after that and was just kept out of trouble the rest of the race. Just toss that one out as a workout and we will give her a big shot to make amends in next start.

TRIPLE ACTION: First time starter just never ran to his works or got untracked. Plus had some trouble down the lane. He was claimed by top Northern California trainer William Morey for 30k, Morey knows a good deal when he sees one and this colt may be heading North for the maiden breaker.

JUST METEOR: First time starter was going down the hill, but was bred to like the grass. Was let go at almost 12-1 and I let my money go. He ran good but finished a clear third. Looked like he may have wanted to go longer. If stretched out next time out we will be playing.

PREMIER PEGASUS: Just won the San Felipe by almost eight lengths in what was a WOW effort. He just exploded with a four wide run into the stretch and drew off in what was a freakish performance. He may have found his true running style in this race. If so, this will play well down the road to Kentucky. We will follow him.

GALLATIN’S RUN: 5yo gelding was dropping into a claiming race for the first time in his career. Trainer Mike Mitchell is a master at playing the claiming poker game and he pulled one off here. There were no claims for this easy winner. Look for the move up and repeat.

EZ RACHEL: Looked too slow for this group of starter allowance girls but had a real good work so at 20-1 looked very enticing. Rachel was squeezed at the start and fell far back in this 6½ furlong downhill turf sprint. Then she rallied from the far outside and stormed home picking up the place, losing by just a half length.

GOLDEN GATE FIELDS

FANCYMEETINYOUHERE: First time starter took plenty of early and late action. She lagged far back in the early going of this mile race for 8k maiden fillies. Moved trough traffic and was gaining with every big stride but got caught behind horses with no place to go. Was taken out for room and blazed home losing by less than a length. $$$$$
