HARD WAY TEN: Was five wide into the stretch the first time around going 1¼ on the grass. He was kept to the outside and swung five wide again turning into the lane. Finished strong to just miss by a half length to the even money chalk in a great performance.

NOFTY: Broke out and was pulling jockey Flores from the saddle. Got between horses to gain the lead and stayed in front until the even money favorite hooked him down the lane. Nofty was a clear second and has the looks of a next out winner.

ANSWER TO ABBY: Not sure about a winning spirit, but his numbers are usually faster than most of these 30k maiden claimers. A must use in the second spot for exacta and trifecta and if you like betting the place pick ALL. A great single.

LED ADVANTAGE: Trainer AC Avila dropped this 4yo filly to an all time low off some good work. She almost got there except that win machine Lost Prophet would not give it up late and held for a ¾ length victory. Led Advantage got a good confidence boost looks like a next out winner.

WARREN’S TONY R: Was exiting our HTW list and getting his first start off the Ted West claim. This 5yo gelding rewarded us and West with a gutty win at 5-1 paying $12.80. His best stuff is on the grass. Look for West to keep him on the green and get another quick win.

FIGHTOFALIFETIME: First time starter looked tough even with all the hype and excellent work, but another highly regarded first timer from the Steve Asmussen barn, Macleans Music, won by more than 7. Flightofalifetime would have won on any other day as he was three lengths clear of the rest. A solid single next time out. Others in this race bear watching especially Meadow Road*.

MIDNIGHT INTERLUDE: Ran a stakes type number in his last race when losing by a half length to Red Sharp Humor. No such foes in this race as he breezed home by more than 8 while under a long hold by Rosario in a scary effort. This one his heading for the big time.

VERY FAIR: You can just toss this race on a sloppy and sealed track. Dig deep when you see him return on the grass.

KATIES PAL: First timer hesitated and lost at least five lengths at the start and really had no shot. She looked to have a lot of late run but the jock took hold and did not put her under any undo pressure. Will see a big price next time out and could be sitting on a nice score. $$$

TRAPPERS BOUNTY: Was last seen running at Pleasanton last July. She came back in this spot and took some betting action. Looked like a winner into the stretch but tired on this gooey track. Race did a ton of good and she will be hard to beat next time.

PIPERS FRIEND: In good form, but another who made a premature early move on this tricky surface after the rains and just did fail to hold.
