Race 1

No. 3 SILVER STREET: Bobbled at the start and had to be steadied when in tight into the turn. Jockey Espinoza, who seems to get all his mounts into some kind of trouble lately, took this girl to the outside for room but lost his whip when trying to make a late run. She was claimed out of this race by the very competent Troy Taylor. Look for a new jock and big time effort next time.

No. 4 HELP ME HANNAH: First time starter showed big early speed in this 20k maiden claimer and held for the win. Was claimed by Vann Belvoir who can pop with horses first.

Race 3

No. 6 ASHLEY’S BAMBINO: First time starter for trainer Peter Euton was trying the downhill turf course. Broke slow and then was squeezed off to dead last. Looked completely out of the race, but he came out and made a huge late run. Just missed second by a head in a super effort. $$$

Race 4

No. 1 MIDNIGHT TRANSFER: One of two Carla Gaines runners on opening day and both had the services of Joel Rosario. This straight maiden won so easy it was scary. Has the looks of a colt on the rise, Carla and Rosario are looking for a big meet. We will follow this one and all her others with this hook up.

Race 5

No. 5 FLUXX: Trainer Peter Miller took the blinkers off for this start and Fluxx settled nicely next to last in this 10 horse field going 1 1/16 on the grass. She made a nice late run just missing the show dough. This girl has some talent and they are trying to find her correct style. This may be it as she could pop next out at a price on the Santa Anita grass. $$$

Race 5

No. 1 HAYLEYSCUPCAKEBAKE: First time starter for trainer John Martin was in a good spot, but never did rally. Next time she may pop at a price.
