MIDNIGHT CON: Was coming out of 1 post in this 7 furlong 40k maiden claimer and just got a horrible trip. Put in a better than looked effort at almost 11-1 odds. With an outside post and a clean trip this one could break his maiden next time out at a nice price.

HUDSON LANDING: This hard hitting 5yo gelding put in a nice late run despite a wide trip the entire mile in this turf race. Claimed by Bill Morey, who had him in the past so this gelding may end up back at the Gate. If so, will be using him as a single.

SASSY AND SINGLE: Filly has some talent, but she must be driving trainer Paddy Gallagher nuts. He cannot get her to break out of the gate. She broke slow again and was way back in this mile race. She made her usual big late run picking up the show dough. If able to get out of the gate and find some pace will get her maiden breaker next time out.

SECRET COVE: Had the cozy rail in this mile turf race, but for some reason Rosario wanted no part of it and gave this filly a wide run the entire race. She came late and was one of four on the line while widest of all. Just missed the place by a neck and the whole enchilada by a half length. $$$

OUR MERV: Was in from over the pond and trainer Mike Mitchell looked to have him set for a big race. Was ready, but broke slow and then was steadied hard when pulling Talamo out of the saddle. Found his best stride late and just came flying. He looks to be a real runner and Mr. Mike just may send him a flat mile next time out. If so, we will dig deep and take a little plunge. $$$$$

NO SILENT: Exiting the same race as Our Merv, which could turn out to be key, this first time starter ran his eyes out at 33-1. Finished a fast closing second splitting horses down the lane. Could be another good price next time out. We will be watching two other horses that ran in this 6½ furlong downhill turf race, CHICKIE CHARMS the third place finisher, led most of the way. FABLE HAVEN, another first time starter, was fourth and also ran huge.

BOXEUR DES RUES: Hadn’t met the starter since last May at Hollywood Park when winning 1 1/16 turf route. Took plenty of action and finished with a good late surge just missing by a half length. Will be a super single next time out. $$$$$

STIRRED UP: Bob Baffert had two in this race – the highly regarded Brannaman and this first-time starter. His main man was on the first-time starter, who ran huge coming from last at the top of the stretch to finish a fast closing second. Can flat out run and will be very hard to beat next time out.

ROYALISM: This is the filly that cost a contest player $1 million by less than a length at the TI contest. Was one of our plays on Came with a big late run but just failed to get there at 9-1. She is ready to graduate, but it will be a day late for one player.

PROMETHEUS BULL: Ran huge battling tooth and nail from gate to wire in this 1 mile, 8k maiden claimer at 14-1. We will be there next time out.
