Santa Anita

Race 4

No. 5 BRANDING: This second time starter for trainer Thomas Proctor was coming off a layoff as was her jockey Gary Stevens. She steamed home and drew clear in what was a nice looking effort. Look for both rider and horse to comeback and repeat. Also look for Stevens to ride more Proctor live ones as Tom Proctor’s dad gave Gary his start.

No. 4 HEIR KITTY: Jockey Gomez in one of his non-rides just had this filly way too far back. When she really wanted to be let loose he got her stuck behind horses in upper stretch and got caught off heels nearing the wire. Finished a much better than looked fifth, beaten by a length for the whole enchilada. With a clean trip she gets the win next time out going long on the grass. $$$$$

Race 5

No. 1 TOOMANYTOMATOES: This very consistent filly was being sent down the hill and got into the race way too late. Came fast to just miss the place money by a half a length. Trainer Doug O’Neill put up 50k for the claim and most likely will be sending this one long next time out.

No. 3 TIZ FLIRTATIOUS: Had the misfortune of meeting Qaraaba in the Robert J. Frankel Stakes. Could not hold off the winner. They will hook up again and this could turn out to be a big rivalry.

Race 9

No. 5 CIRCLE THE MOON: Was coming off a 10 month layoff, but trainer Bruce Headley put two nice 7 furlong works into her. She ran huge at 16-to-1 just getting caught at the wire by the 5-2 chalk. We will give her a big look next time out.
