Race 4

No. 8 APPEALING TALE: Bobbled at the start and dropped back between horses. He then swung wide into the stretch and finished like a flash to be one of five horses on the line. Lost the photo and had to settle for third beaten a neck in a race he may have been best.

Race 5

No. 4 TREE OF LIFE: Ran a winning race in the Pomona Derby but just failed to run down the lone speed. The early trouble hurt him as he had to check off heels right after the first turn and then made what looked to be a winning move. The winner would not stop and he came up ¾ of a length short but was seven lengths clear of the rest. Santa Anita here he comes. $$$$$
