SANTA ANITA
Race 6
No. 7 VELVET MESQUITE
First time starter going down the hill was listed at 9/2 on the morning line and just was hammered at the betting windows, going off as the 5/2 chalk in this field of 11. She got the money and has the looks of a real nice filly. We will follow her.
Race 8
No. 5 TRIPSKI
Was in from Belmont for trainer Steve Asmussen and this 6yo gelding did some of his best running going 5 furlongs on the grass. Now going 6 furlongs on the grass, he showed his likeness to the green with a solid win. He will love going down the hill at Santa Anita and we will be using him as a single. $$$$$
Race 9
No. 7 WILDCAT JANINE
First time starter with the hot connections of trainer Paul Aguirre and jockey Iggy Puglisi. She broke slow and was steadied hard; fell to dead last in this 12 horse field and stayed there until the half-mile pole when she swung out for room. Closed like a rocket to pick up the place while gaining on the winner with every stride. We will be on her next time out and will follow this hook up of Iggy and Aguirre. $$$
