SANTA ANITA

RACE 1

No. 4 SAMMY MANDEVILLE: First time starter for Doug O’Neill drew the services of Mike Smith who doesn’t ride many for this trainer. Sammy took some action in the betting but broke slow and was dead last in this full field of 12. Came out into the stretch and sped home fast to finish fourth in a much better than looked effort. He may want to go long.

RACE 2

No. 2 BAYVIEW DRIVE: Was coming off the layoff in this 5½ furlong sprint for straight maidens and ran a much better than looked third. Being steadied hard off heels midway on the turn cost him. He will be hard to beat next time out.

RACE 7

No. 10 AIRFOIL: It was all about early speed on this biased strip but Airfoil ran a big time race when making a six wide dash into the stretch. Came on gamely to pick up the show dough. On a fair racing strip he wins next time out. $$$
