DEL MAR
RACE 1
NO. 5 GO GET EM BABE: Maiden was sent off as the 2/1 favorite but she stumbled at the start and was steadied hard when squeezed back to last, losing all shot. After that she was just running in place and made no attempt. You can just toss this effort and give this filly a big shot to rebound in her next start.
RACE 7
NO. 5 MAL VERDE: Broke out and was bumped. He was pulling hard and was bumped and steadied again when in tight. Settled down on the inside and got to the front end in deep stretch to hold on for the impressive win. Should repeat going long on the grass. $$$
RACE 8
NO. 6 ALRIGHT ALRIGHT: The 2yo colt was that first out of the box for trainer Darrell Vienna, who just doesn’t win with many first time starters. He stalked the pace in the early going, made a four wide move on the turn, shot to the front and held off the even money favorite in what was a classy win.
