NO. 3 SHAZARA: First time starter for trainer John Shirreffs who just doesn’t win many first out. Broke slow, steadied and did put in a nice late run with go-to rider Mike Smith in the irons. We see this filly getting the win going long next time out with a good break.

NO. 10 AMERICAN LEAGUE: Was in from the Gate and really wanted to run as he was pulling jockey Prat hard. Had to be steadied into the first turn and that cost him. He then chased outside and went three deep leaving the second turn. Got up for the place and would have been much closer with a better trip.
