SANTA ANITA
RACE 2
NO. 3 ARROGATE: First time starter for Bob Baffert was sent off at 50-cents-on-the-dollar as odds-on as luck would have it for those who took the plunge. He broke slow and pulled himself into a bad spot down on the rail. Once clear he stormed home just missing the place by a neck and the win by a half-length. No mistakes next time out, probably at the Great Race Place!
NO. 6 GIANT EXPECTATIONS: Was sent off at 7/5 in this maiden special race going 1/16 on the dirt. He stumbled at the start to be off last in this 11 horse field. Came four wide into the lane and ran on, just missing the show dough. We will give him a big shot right back with a clean start.
RACE 4
NO. 5 FRUITY: These four exit the same downhill turf sprint a race that BLAKE’S MAGIC won coming off a long layoff. He beat BEHEST by a half-length, PEARL DE VERE by a little over a neck and FRUITY by a length. We would love to see these hookup again. If so, we will be playing exacta and tri boxes and may key on BEHEST, who was claimed by Hollendorfer. We will keep all four on our watch list.
