DEL MAR
RACE 2
NO. 3 PEARL DE VERE
BLAKE’S MAGIC/BEHEST/PEARL DE VERE/FRUITY: These four exit the same downhill turf sprint a race that BLAKE’S MAGIC won coming off a long layoff. He beat BEHEST by a half-length, PEARL DE VERE by a little over a neck and FRUITY by a length. We would love to see these hookup again. If so, we will be playing exacta and tri boxes and may key on BEHEST, who was claimed by Hollendorfer. We will keep all four on our watch list.
RACE 5
NO. 5 NOTED AND QUOTED: First time starter for trainer Bob Baffert broke slow and was dead last in this 10 horse field going five furlongs. Made a nice late run when splitting rivals to get up for fourth and will be a very good play next time out, especially if she goes longer.
RACE 9
NO. 4 SWEET TREAT: Ran huge in this $50k maiden claimer battling tooth and nail from the bell only to lose by a neck when coming back on at the wire. In top form and will be very hard to beat next out going a mile.
