DEL MAR
RACE 7
NO.5 MAYBELLENE
First time starter was a hand full before the race action. She wanted to be let loose coming out of post one in this five furlong sprint for 2yo straight maidens. Showed good early speed battling with the winner from the bell. Could not run with the 6/5 chalk but held well to be a clear third more than four lengths clear of the rest. We look for her to go wire to wire next time out.
Race 8
THE GRADE II JOHN C. MABEE
No. 3 WISHING GATE
Gary Stevens was having a bad day to say the least and he had this girl in no man’s land going a mile on the grass. She was so far back and had no shot at running them down late. Look for a much better trip in her next stakes start at Del Mar or Saratoga. We will be watching for her return.
