Santa Anita

Race 1

No. 2 CAL BAYERS: Third time starter by Mineshaft was getting blinkers on for this 5½ furlong, 30k maiden race. She was next to last until the half mile pole and made a big late run. Finished a clear and better than looked fourth losing the race by a length. If sent a little longer next time out we will be digging deep. $$$$$

Race 2

No. 5 UNUSUAL JAZZ: Had been crying out to be sent long and it happened. Steve Knapp sent this colt by Unusual Heat 1 1/16 on the grass. He sat back off the pace and ran them down late under a Quinonez ride. Had plenty left at the wire. Could come right back at a nice price and repeat.

Race 6

No. 4 CONSULADO: First time starter was 6-1 on the morning line but got hammered in the last two minutes and was sent off as the 5-2 favorite. Ran his race out of the 10 hole, but could not catch the lone speed. Was a clear second and has the looks of a next out winner at Santa Anita. $$$

No. 11 BOBBY FLAY: First time starter for trainer Bob Baffert was coming out of the 1 post and ran a nice even race. Made up some ground late behind second place finisher Consulado our $$$ above. This guy just may cook them next time out. This could end up a key race as we will be watching several in here.

Golden Gate

Race 5

No. 8 SATURDAY’S MIRACLE: Was in from Keeneland for trainer Hollendorfer and just did fail to hold on for the win getting caught late by a live Steve Sherman first time starter. This filly will be a solid single next time out as she will go wire to wire.
