No. 8 CELEBRATE LIFE: If you get my daily picks online you would have scored big on this first time starter who was given out as our key play in the race. He got home going wire to wire, paying $76.80. It pays to sign up and get our daily online plays every day Southern California runs.

No. 1 MAESTRO DEARTE: Looked all the winner in this mile turf race for straight maidens but looked to be stopped in mid-stretch when having to check with no room down on the inside. Got out in deep stretch and blasted home for the win with a ton of horse left. This one can move up and repeat on the grass vs. winners next time out.

No. 1 NEXT SHARES: Was in from Aqueduct and landed in the barn of Richard Baltas. He ran huge in his first try going down the tricky hill side turf course, finishing a fast closing second vs. the lone speed in here and beating the favorite, Richard’s Boy, who was proven on this course. $$$

No. 1 AX MAN: First time starter for trainer Bob Baffert got off at 7/5. After watching him win by more than nine lengths in this full field of ten 3yo, the price was a bargain. We would have been standing in line to make a Kentucky Derby future book wager but since this race was run Jan. 1 he falls into the curse of Apollo. He does have a big time future and will be one to watch on the Kentucky Derby trail.

No. 6 KRIS’ ROCKET KAT: Both of these colts were running in this straight maiden race for 2yo and both were trained by Richard Baltas. One of his go to riders, Bejarano rode the winner KRIS’ ROCKET KAT and J.R. Velazquez was on CONCUR, who finished second while more than seven lengths clear of the rest in this 11 horse field. We love both of them to win next out.

No. 7 TONY BLACKJACK: Made a big time four-wide move after hopping in a slow start to be dead last. He blazed home to win going away with a lot left in the tank. Look for another big time run next out. $$$$$

No. 9 CONQUEROR: Was in from Canada for trainer Vladimir Cerin who does great with these shippers. This one was sent off at 2/1 but had no shot at the runaway winner. He had some trouble and should be ready to score next out.
