SANTA ANITA

RACE 5

NO. 8 CONFIDENTLY: These three maiden fillies just finished second, third and fourth and were only separated by a half length with Claudelle running a very game race in her first try on the grass as she battled on the front end the entire trip only to lose by a neck while a half length in front of Confidently, who was a nostril in front of Holly Hundy, the filly who battled Claudelle from the start. We will put all three on our watch list and if they come back in the same race next out, it will be Exacta time.

RACE 8

NO. 8 OGGONIS: First-time starter for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer really looked good winning this six- furlong sprint. He is bred to go long and also will love the grass being by Animal Kingdom. That is where we hope to see him next out vs. winners.

RACE 9

NO. 2 UNITED: As I have written in this column on many occasions, look for runners exiting the same race and these two were exiting the same last race. Both of them just blasted away from this field down the lane with United beating Colosi by a length and Colosi was a clear second, almost four lengths better than the rest. We like them both right back. By the way, the $2 exacta paid $631.
