MAXIMUM STRIDER: 2-year-old filly was making her first start and it was on the five-furlong turf course. She was bet like a good thing and won despite getting bumped hard at the start. She stalked while on the inside and just loved the way she swung out with a furlong left to blast home getting the win. She can move up and beat winners sprinting on the grass.
K P D DAY: May have been best in this 1 1/16 mile turf race. He tossed his head at the start to be off slow, losing several positions. He was pulling hard while down on the inside and looked loaded but lacked room. He was swung out and surged late missing by a head.
PIZZAZZ: Trainer Richard Mandella looked to have had this 2-year-old filly ready to roll for her debut. She appeared to be going good, but she raced green drifting out in the lane. Jockey Mike Smith got her straightened out and she ran on to be a solid second.
ONE BAD BOY: Was coming off a layoff and was going 1 1/16 miles on the turf. He was checked between runners in the early going, then made a four-wide run turning for home but had to settle for fourth in a race he needed. He will be ready for the win next out going long on the grass.
