DEL MAR

THE LUTEISMINE: 2-year-old California-bred maiden was debuting going five furlongs on the grass. He sat back off the lone speed and came three-wide into the stretch and came home to finish fourth in what was a much better-than-looked effort.

MYSTERY MESSENGER: Was going five furlongs on the grass. He went to the inside after the break saving ground. He then had to swing four-wide for room entering the stretch and came home like a freight train, just missing by the shortest of noses.

ENDLESS SUNSET: 2-year-old maiden was traveling a flat mile on the grass. This one was very unlucky to lose this race. He was forced in at the start and stayed on the inside till the second turn. On the second turn he was swung out for room and made an eye-catching move between horses and was gaining with every stride on the lone speed, just missing in what was a big-time effort.

SCARY FAST SMILE: Was last seen finishing a good third at Los Alamitos TB back in July. In this race, he was bumped hard at the start and was steered outside. He remained on the outside and moved four-wide around the turn in this 6 1/2-furlong dirt sprint. He kept running and was gaining on the lone speed to miss by less than a dwindling length
