GULFSTREAM PARK
KITTEN’S FINEST: Ran huge in this mile turf race for straight maidens but had the misfortune to be up against a 6-5 lone speed filly who cruised for a wire to wire win. Kitten’s Finest ran her own big race to be a clear second, more than four lengths clear of the rest in a 10-horse field.
PREMIUM MOTION: First-time starter ran a much better-than- looked third as she broke slow and lagged behind the pack to the stretch. She went around runners entering the last furlong shifting inside for room and came on for the show money. Look for much better next out going long on the grass.
FAIR GROUNDS
PLEASE SIT DOWN: When 3-year-old maidens wake up we need to keep betting on them and this gelding woke up big time in this mile turf race. After running four wide the entire trip coming into the stretch he just unleashed a powerful burst of speed to win going away by almost six lengths. He can move up and repeat vs. winners next out going long on the grass for trainer Brad Cox.
GOLDEN GATE
MOONOVERTHEBAYOU: Santa Anita shipper for trainer Bob Hess was mid-pack tracking the pace to the turn when he eased out for room in upper stretch and blasted home to win going away with jockey Abel Cedillo looking like he could go around again. This gelding loved this synthetic surface and will come back and repeat vs. winners.
REBALATION: First-time starter for trainer Tim McCanna got fanned four-wide into the stretch but made a steady run down the lane and was picking up the top two runners with every late stride, finishing third just a length behind the top two. She breaks her maiden next out.
