GOLDEN GATE

LU CAT: Threw his head at the start and was off last, losing any shot at running down the winner. He made a gutty late run to pick up the place money in a very game effort.

INTIMIDATE: Looked to be in a perfect stalking position off the pace but got in tight and was steadied from the half-mile pole to the three-eighths pole, losing all chance. Look for a big effort next out at this level with a clean trip.

UNCHAINING MELODY: Broke slow and behind the field to be last going into the turn in this six-furlong sprint. She swung out four wide looking to make a late run but got fanned widest of all in upper stretch. She did not give up, rallying late to win going away in what was a dynamite effort.

REIWA: Was crowded at the start and wiped out, sat back and regrouped making a big late run from last to second down the lane. We will be looking to single next time out.
