SANTA ANITA
BORDER TOWN: We have always liked this colt and it looks like he has put if all together. He came into this allowance mile turf race off a big maiden win. He stormed home to win like a good thing. Look for another win next out on the move up in class going long on the grass.
DR. HUFFMAN: May have been best in this dirt route. He broke slowly then pulled and was steadied hard in the early going. He made a big late run picking up the place money while missing the win by less than a length.
STUBBINS: Was stalking the pace while down on the inside in this 5 1/2-furlong grass race. He came out into midstretch then angled back in when putting in a big late run but was steadied a sixteenth out. He continued to run and just missed the place by a nose.
NEXT SHARES: Just had a horrible trip in the Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile. He steadied sharply when squeezed off at the start and was dead last until the top of the stretch. He swung three-wide into the lane putting in a big late run to pick up the place money in what was a big-time effort.
