Hurricanes vs. Panthers Game 3 Betting Trends

Matthew Tkachuk played the role of hero again for Florida with another OT game-winner in Game 2. The Panthers are in the catbird seat entering Game 3 with a chance to sweep the series on Wednesday at home.

Nearly two-thirds of bettors at DraftKings like the Hurricanes +1.5 goals on the puck line tonight. Carolina (-105) is attracting 74% of the handle on the moneyline, but the majority of bets are on Florida at 56%.

The first two games of the series have gone Under 5.5, and 60% of handle and 59% of bets are on that outcome tonight. Over bettors received no favors after early goals by both teams in Game 2 were overturned with reviews for offsides.

It was a month ago when the Panthers got drilled by the Bruins, 6-2, to go down 3-1 in their opening-round series. Many observers had written Florida off, but the Panthers have reeled off nine wins in their last 10 games since then.

They dispatched both Boston and Toronto, two of the Eastern Conference’s best teams this season. Is Carolina next? We’ll see, but let’s check some Game 3 props first.

Hurricanes vs. Panthers Game 3 & Series Predictions

This series hasn’t gone as scripted for the Hurricanes, one of the NHL’s best teams on home ice in the playoffs the past two years. Carolina surprisingly dropped both games at PNC Arena, and now clings to its playoff life heading into Game 3 at Florida tonight.

Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour’s team hasn’t been dominated so far. The Canes have come out on the short end of two hard-fought games. Carolina again rated the edge in shots on goal, 38-26, in Game 2. These are two evenly-matched teams, and we don’t expect the Canes to go out quietly.

That’s why we’ll target the Over on Florida goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky‘s saves again tonight. DraftKings released goalie props as of Monday afternoon, and Bobrovsky’s total is set at 30.5 (-120). The veteran net minder made 63 saves in Florida’s 3-2 quadruple overtime win in Game 1. He followed up that Herculean effort with 37 saves in Game 2.

It’s a little disappointing that you can’t find plus-money on the Hurricanes on the moneyline tonight. The best price we could find was Carolina -104 at FanDuel. That’s the bet tonight knowing that a 3-0 series deficit will be a death knell for the Canes.

At -425, Florida has an 80.95% implied probability of winning the series. Odds are they will, but who wants to run the risk at that price?
