Even if you are not an Alien movie fan, you will enjoy IGT’s Alien slot machine. It is a 20-line 20x maximum-bet game that features an outer space theme using images from that classic Sci-Fi flick.

It also flashes cryptic messages at you like, “In space no one can hear you scream,” while you are playing. Now, that’s enough to get the juices flowing.

There’s a scatter pay that’s triggered when three or more cat symbols appear during a spin.

Alien has two bonus features, The Alien Egg Bonus round and the Alien Hunt Bonus.

The Alien Egg Bonus begins when the Alien Egg symbols land on reels 3, 4 and 5 of any played line; then the player selects one of the nine Alien eggs, which reveals the awarded credits that are added to the total bonus win.

When a “Collect” message appears, you are awarded two times the initial bet for each of the remaining unselected eggs and that amount is also added to the total bonus win meter.

At the end of the Alien Egg Bonus round, the total bonus win is multiplied by the number of initiating lines, so one can see the fun and credits really add up in this game.

The second bonus round is intriguing. It begins when three outer spaceship door symbols land on reels 1, 2 and 3, respectively, of a played line. The Alien Hunt Bonus gives the player a possibility of six bonus rounds – the first five begin with six boxes at the bottom of the screen, each containing either a weapon, a “Throw All” message or an Alien creature.

When a weapon symbol is chosen, then the credit value of that weapon is added to the total bonus win and the player will be able to play another round. If you select the “Throw All” message, all the credit values are displayed and added to the total bonus win, and then a new round begins.

This continues until an Alien is selected or you reach the sixth round. Then you are prompted to press the on-screen button, so the revealed credit value is added to the total bonus win and the bonus round ends.

I usually play 2x or 3x line bet (40¢ or 60¢).

I find the game seems to hit more when I play more credits per line. So I sometimes will play 15 lines at 5x or nine lines at 10x.

Of course, I am taking a chance because the bonuses can only be won on a played line. If, however, you luck out and hit one of the bonuses while you have the per-line bet up, the payoff during the bonuses can be quite attractive.
