It was a very crazy week of football. Let us take a little look at some of the big moves that happened last weekend as lines were moving faster than Hillary answering email questions.

Arkansas was visiting TCU and the line opened up with TCU -7.5 and closed at -10. The Razorbacks pulled this one out in OT to win straight up after the TCU QB did a gang sign in the end zone. These coaches just have no control. Woody Hayes would be in prison if one of his players pulled such an act.

North Carolina was visiting Illinois and opened up as a 9-point favorite. The line was bet down to -6.5 with the Heels winning in a rout, 48-23.

There was a huge crazy move on Texas Tech at Arizona State as the Sun Devils opened up as a 4-point favorite and the game closed with Texas Tech as 2-point chalk. The Sun Devils won, 68-55.

In a big win for the players Air Force opened up as a 18-point favorite and was bet up to -22. They just flew by Georgia State, 48-14.

In the NFL “Mr. Hoodie” and his Brady-less Patriots were in Arizona for the 5:30 game, which opened with the Cards -6 and went all the way to -9. The Pats won outright, killing all teasers with a 23-21 score. Just can’t give Belichick that many points.

There was a ton of action on the Saints who went for -1 to -3 and looked to have the game won but blew it late, losing on a Raiders’ two-point conversion, 35-34.

Now let’s see if we can do better than last week with our selections.

Last week: 3-3

College Season: 7-5

Thursday, Sept. 15

Houston -7 at Cincinnati: This will be a great game to watch. We get the Bearcats off an easy win at Purdue and the Cougars want to prove their win over Oklahoma was not fluke. This is a big revenge game for the Bearcats, who lost to the Cougars in Houston last year, 33-30. We will take the TD in what will be a very close game. CINCINNATI.

Saturday, Sept. 17

Florida St. -3.5 at Louisville: Nice game for ABC as we get two high powered teams looking to go 3-0. We think the Seminoles’ 45-34 comeback win over Ole Miss trumps the Cardinals blowouts of lowly Charlotte and overmatched Syracuse. The Orange did put up 28 points vs. the Cards. We also note Louisville has gone 0-6 ATS at home with revenge. They lost to the Seminoles last year, 41-21. Florida State’s defense will be more than Louisville can handle. FLORIDA ST.

UCLA -3 at BYU: Have watched BYU two times and their offense is just not there. UCLA escaped at home last year, 24-23, as a 16.5-point chalk and they will be taking no chances in this important game. They do not want two losses going into next week to play Stanford. Bruins have gone 9-0 ATS when favored by 8 or less points as non-conference favorites from Game 2 out and we liked the way they came back vs. Texas A&M in their opener.UCLA.

Pittsburgh +7 at Oklahoma St: If you watched or read about last week’s game between Okie State and Central Michigan you will know the Cowboys were robbed of a win as the zebras gave C. Mich. a free play with no time left on the clock, the game was actually over. As the betting gods would have it they scored on a remarkable Hail Mary pass and lateral to win from the jaws of defeat. We look for a very angry group of Cowboys who catch the Panthers off huge a win vs. cross city rival Penn State last weekend. OKLAHOMA ST.

Ohio State -2.5 at Oklahoma: The Buckeyes travel to Norman to take on the Sooners and this could be the season for both teams. Though this bettor is a huge Buckeye fan, I will be betting Oklahoma on the money line. Sooners have gone 11-0 ATS in games before going on back-to-back roadies. Starting next week they play at TCU and in Dallas against Texas at the Cotton Bowl. Coach Bob Stoops will have his boys sky high. OKLAHOMA (ML)

Alabama -10 at Mississippi: I must be crazy laying 10 points at Oxford but after watching two games all I can say is the Tide defense is very good. This is a very big revenge game for Bama as they were beaten by Ole Miss last year, 43-37, in Tuscaloosa. Saban gets his revenge. ALABAMA.

Racing

Just a quick note. We love supporting our local books and people who we think put out things that can help horse players keep their heads above water. Renowned handicapper Jerrold “Jerry J.” Jacovitz puts out a great handicapping sheet at the Station Casinos racebooks. You can stop in one of their books and get one for free.

This past meet at Saratoga and Del Mar, JJ showed a nice flat bet profit on 213 star horses along with a flat bet profit on his top pick on his JJ power page sheet. It’s a “must” if you are betting New York or California to stop at one of the Station racebooks and pick up his sheet. You could be walking around lucky and not even know it.

NFL last week: 0-2.
