This week we headed to North Las Vegas to Jerry’s Famous Coffee Shop located inside of Jerry’s Nugget Casino at 1821 N. Las Vegas Blvd.

I’ll admit I don’t get down to Jerry’s Nugget often but after trying the prime rib that is about to change. For years I have had people tell me how good the prime rib is at Jerry’s Famous Coffee Shop. Finally I said I have to find out for myself.

The Coffee Shop is open 24 hours a day and has a very extensive menu, including a big breakfast menu, hot and cold sandwiches, a large section of Mexican dishes, seafood entrees, steaks and prime rib.

Jerry’s signature dish is the Prime Rib, which is rubbed in their secret marinade and then slow roasted for 10 hours at 200 degrees. It was excellent and it really is a steal of a deal.

Their small cut (The English Cut) is an 8-10 ounce slice of juicy prime rib and comes with soup or salad, choice of potato, vegetable and bread for $13.89. They offer a 28-30 ounce cut for $25.89 and a Double Cut portion at 48 ounces for $41.89. You would need a few people to polish off the Double Cut portion.

In addition to the prime rib, Jerry’s is also known for their Friday & Saturday Night Steak Specials. From 11 a.m. to Midnight every Friday and Saturday you can get New York Steak & Shrimp for $13.89 or New York Steak & Lobster for $19.89. Needless to say Fridays and Saturdays can be quite busy with the locals taking advantage of the specials.

Be sure to save room for dessert at Uncle Angelo’s Bakery. The assortment of cakes, pies and pastries is endless. In true coffee shop style there is a big glass case that has all the cakes spinning around on a carousel.

If you are sitting as I was in close proximity to the case you will be tormented throughout your meal by these sweet temptations. I have had several of the offerings and have been thoroughly pleased each and every time.

One of my favorites is their Strawberry Ring, which is rich Bavarian cream, whipped cream and fresh strawberries layered between two halves of a round cream puff pastry that is topped with rich dark chocolate and a glazed strawberry. These are incredible and you will want to take a second one home with you.

If you like Éclairs you will love Uncle Angelo’s as these éclairs are huge and filled end to end with Bavarian cream and topped with dark chocolate and decorated with butter cream roses.

The selections of cakes, pies and cheesecakes are endless.

If you find yourself downtown, make the trip over to North Las Vegas and checkout Jerry’s Famous Coffee Shop. The waiters and waitresses are extremely friendly, the portions are huge and the prices very reasonable. I give it a Rating of 3.75 Forks.
