As we look at Lakers vs. Warriors Game 5 predictions, odds, and props, sportsbooks and bettors agree: Golden State is expected to come up big, very big, to evade elimination from the NBA Playoffs.
Now it’s just a matter of whether consensus becomes fact on Wednesday night.

Lakers vs. Warriors Game 5 Betting Odds: Point Spread, Moneyline, Total, Series Price
The betting line has shot up to between Golden State -7 and -7.5 as of Wednesday morning, with bettors not batting an eye in backing the Dubs.
Host Golden State obtained 88% of the early spread handle DraftKings at -7 and 55% of the bets.
The Warriors notched 84% of the moneyline handle, despite the substantial -285 juice. More than a few Lakers backers, however, took a stab at a moneyline pluck of +240. The Lakers received 47% of the tickets at a hefty price.
The Over-Under of 227.5 provides a split verdict with 63% of the handle on the Under, but 54% of the tickets backing the over. Game 4, a 104-101 Lakers triumph, was the lowest-scoring matchup of the series.
The updated series price at DraftKings has the Lakers as -450 favorites to win one of the next three and advance, with the Warriors offered at +350 to take three in a row.
Here are spreads, moneyline, and totals from top sports betting apps for Game 5 of this Western Conference semifinal.
Do Lakers Go All Out in Game 5?
The Lakers own a series stranglehold at three games to one. That has raised questions about whether they might rest some key players and gun to win the series Friday in a Game 6 at home. That’s where they have won eight straight.
The analysis mirrors the sentiment preceding Game 2, in which the Lakers had already stolen home court with a 117-112 Game 1 triumph. They didn’t have to win Game 2, and they didn’t. Los Angeles went on to suffer a 127-100 blowout loss.
Is this the same pattern?
By all measures, Golden State is due. Or is that “do”?
DraftKings Boss Talks Game 5 Betting Patterns
“We’re seeing a lot of betting on this game with what we call the ‘do’ theory,” Johnny Avello, director of race and sportsbook operations for DraftKings, told Gaming Today. “Say a team loses the first game of a series at home and it’s the favorite, as the Warriors did here in Game 1. Bettors figure they have to win the next one, and so they are going to ‘do it’ in Game 2. Golden State came through for them.
“In this situation, people are not even handicapping the teams, they are figuring whomever lost the last game is probably bound to win the next one. It’s not that one team will be less emotional or not want to win, it’s just a thing of nature.
“Much of the time, it works out for the ‘do’ bettors. But once in a while it does not, and they really get burned.”
Well, tonight is “do” night for the defending NBA champs. In fact, it’s do-or-die for the season.
Lakers Find Spark From Unexpected Source
LeBron James stepped up his game to reach 27 points in Game 4, and Anthony Davis had a nice effort with 23 points and 15 boards.
But the biggest shot in the arm came from Lonnie Walker. He scored all 15 of his points in the fourth quarter. That unexpected spark changed the momentum. Walker also hit the shot that put Los Angeles ahead for good.
Bounce-Back Time for Warriors?
Another factor feeding the “do” theory is Golden State’s denied victory in Game 4. The Warriors had a double-digit lead late in the third quarter but yielded to a furious Lakers comeback.
Steph Curry was on fire with 31 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. But his triple double wasn’t enough.
Golden State’s shot selection at the end of the game was not good, with 3-pointers launched from too far out to have a good chance.
Lakers vs. Warriors Game 5 Prop Bets
Here is a sampling of the pages of Game 5 prop bets offered at the sportsbooks.
Player Points (DraftKings)
Bet Over or Under the point totals posted for these players:
- Andrew Wiggins 17.5 (Over -105, Under -125)
- Davis 24.4 (-110, -120)
- D’Angelo Russell 14.5 (Over -120, Under -110)
- Draymond Green 8.5 (Over +100, Under -120)
- James 25.5 (Both sides -115)
- Walker 8.5 (Over -125, Under +105). One day you’re coming off the bench. The next day you’re a prop. That’s life for a role player.
Game 5 Props at FanDuel

- 2 + Dunks in the first 3 minutes +750
First Player to 10 points:
- Curry +220
- Davis +380
- James +390
- Klay Thompson +440
To Trail By 10 or more and win:

This is another subtle indication of where the book thinks the game lies. The outcome just happened with the Lakers’ rally in Game 4 and one might figure it for a shorter price … unless the feeling is that this game won’t be close.

- Davis +7500
Leading At the End of Each Quarter:

Lakers vs. Warriors Game 5 Prediction
I am a “do” bettor here. Talent-wise, these teams are too balanced for a five-game series. Golden State light bet to cover -7.
