There has been a long-standing joke over the years that no matter what happens in the world, Las Vegas would not be affected. But, the current health concerns surrounding the coronavirus has taken Vegas by storm.

Many big names and headliners David Copperfield, Shania Twain and Rod Stewart are all postponing dates. Cirque du Soleil, Las Vegas’ predominant entertainment production company for more than 25 years, is halting all of its shows on the Strip, putting about 1,500 employees out of work.

Let’s not forget our year-round, Strip performers and residents like Crazy Girls, Murray the Celebrity Magician, and The Bronx Wanderers are all on leave. Even major new coming residents like Kelly Clarkson and the Jonas Brothers, which were both scheduled to start April 1, have postponed. Just about every show in town has shut down for at least a few weeks.

In fact, all entertainment venues at all the hotels have been ordered shut down by the state. Even the Smith Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Las Vegas is going dark.

“The town is going to have to go on lockdown”, Vin A. from the Bronx Wanderers said. “You’re going to see entertainers livestream their shows with no audience in order to stay working. This is a wonderful way to come together as a community as well.”

One such person leading the way is Strip headliner Chadwick Johnson. This Wednesday at 7 p.m. PT you can livestream “Chadwick’s From My Home To Yours.”

Johnson said: “In light of the uncertainty we are all living through at this time and since many of our shows and gigs have been canceled, I feel that we all are in need of having our spirits uplifted the way only music can do. So my pianist, Jason Corpuz and I, invite you to join us for a live show. We will be doing a 30 minute set from my living room”

This is a “pay-what-youcan” event and you can purchase tickets on www.stageit.com. You can even request a song and the talented performer will do his best to accommodate you.

Vegas Golden Knights and Top Rank arena host Mark Shunock created Mondays Dark more than seven years ago. MD is Vegas’ premier variety show for a cause, partnering with over 100 charities and raising over one million dollars.

“A month ago we introduced livestream capabilities to The Space (famed location where Monday’s Dark is held twice a month),” he said. “The original intention was to help Mondays Dark reach every corner of the planet and raise even more money and awareness for our local charities. Little did I know it would now help us, as an entertainment community, continue to do what we do, perform.”  You can watch some of the biggest names in show business perform to a different theme to benefit a different charity every two weeks at www.mondaysdark.com.

For anyone looking to refund any tickets they have purchased for any events now postponed in Las Vegas, just go to the same websites you purchased them from. Whether you got the tickets from a ticketing agency or a hotel website, they will honor the refund.

Many of the performers and entertainers in Las Vegas you admire so much do not make millions. Many will be doing livestream shows to continue working. Check your favorite artists’ websites for updates on these livestreams.
