This past Tuesday the wife and I ventured out for a romantic night on the Strip. You see when your business is being a professional handicapper and bettor Tuesday is your Saturday night.

Saturdays I’m busy watching all the action of my sports bets. Weekends are workdays for people in my business. Feeling like Italian we headed out to Nove Italiano located in the Palms. This casino/resort is great if you want to have dinner and then catch a movie.

This was our first visit to Nove so when we were 51 stories up with a window seat both my wife Lori and I were impressed with the view of the Strip. This is a nice romantic dinner spot to take that special someone. You can’t eat a view so let’s get to the real reason we are here.

They have several tempting appetizers to start your meal. My wife went her usual way and had a Caesar salad but I went a different direction. I was torn about what I was going to have as my entrée. My eye was on a pasta dish they call Sunday Gravy. It has Braciole, Sausage, Meatballs and Pork in the sauce, poured over your pasta.

All of those items I like very much by themselves but to have all of them in my sauce together, that’s heaven on a plate! The problem was I saw a veal dish they call Veal Nove, which is veal scaloppini topped with prosciutto and served with an argula salad. Now I have a problem because I can’t decide between the two.

I asked the waiter his recommendation and he earned his tip with his suggestion. He said that those are two very good choices and suggested if I wanted the pasta too I could order it as an appetizer portion. You can order any of their pasta dishes as a half order. Well, my dilemma was solved as I got both.

The Sunday Gravy was simply out of this world as having all the different meats simmering in the sauce gives such a robust flavor. Trust me, I will be having the Sunday Gravy again on my next visit. When my main entrée arrived the veal was cooked to perfection and the prosciutto combined with the sauce made this the perfect dish. I will say this veal dish was one of the top I have had here in Vegas.

Nove is known for their Italian creations, but they have a nice selection of seafood and steaks as well. I was impressed by the fact you can choose between wet or dry aged steaks. Not too many restaurants offer both. I will have to give their steaks a try on a future visit.

The portions were huge so both the wife and I were too stuffed for dessert. When the waiter brought the bill our great meal got even better. I wasn’t aware that every Tuesday night is Ladies Night. Everything the lady orders both food and drink is 50% off, so what was already a great evening got even better with the special.

The meal, view and Tuesday deal – all great. NoveItaliano is a must for date night. I give it 3.75 Forks.
