Now that football season is over, my weekly Sunday and Monday watching of games with the guys is done.

I tried many different bars and restaurants to sit down and grab a few cold ones. We were always looking to find new places and sample their food.

I have to admit to being somewhat superstitious. If having a great Sunday watching games at a place, I would want to go back there the following week. I feel like one of those guys in a beer commercial but as gamblers we all have our little quirks.

One of the places we went to several times this football season was RePete’s Bar & Grill (2460 W. Warm Springs right off of Las Vegas Blvd.

RePete’s is a great place to hang out and watch games. The bar area is loaded with flat screen TV’s so you can catch your favorite team in action. If you don’t want to hang out in the bar area they have a separate glass enclosed dining area.

RePete’s offers daily Happy Hour Specials from 3-6 p.m. where you can get 50% off their appetizers and pizzas. They also have plenty of drink specials during Happy Hour.

Especially nice about dining at RePete’s is having all the typical bar food favorites for watching games and an extensive dinner menu.

As far as the bar food goes, some of the items I have liked were their wings, burgers and sliders.

I really recommend getting their fresh cut fries, as these were excellent. As far as entrees go two of their house specialties were the house Special Beef Tips, which are marinated filet mignon tips pan grilled and served with fresh cut fries.

The second house special, Chicken Under Brick, isn’t on the menu but they have had it as one of the daily specials every time I have been there. I would order this one on a regular basis.

They take half of a chicken and remove the bones, except for the end part of the wing, but leave the skin on. The chicken is then grilled under a brick, which flattens it and makes the skin crispy.

This dish is my favorite as the way they cook it seals in all the juices. but the best part was the crispy outer skin. I know a lot of people don’t like the skin but I do. That’s where the flavor is.

Here’s a tip with this meal: Be sure to ask for the gravy on the side. For me, pouring gravy over it defeats the purpose. Trust me on this one.

I have stopped at RePete’s many times after a late night poker session to have breakfast. If you live south of the Strip, RePete’s is right on your way home.

Nothing beats a good breakfast after a winning late night poker session. My favorite breakfast dish is the Pork Chops & Eggs.

I’m already looking forward to next football season but till then it’s basketball through March Madness and then baseball, so we will still be out there checking out all the spots around town.

I give RePete’s Bar & Grill a rating of 3.50 Forks out of 4.
