Fans of the Detroit Lions get another home playoff game this weekend, as Jared Goff and Co. host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Lions’ first divisional-round matchup since 1992. Detroit beat the LA Rams in the Wild Card round last Sunday, while the Bucs upset the Eagles at home on Monday night.

Ford Field was raucous throughout the Lions’ win over the Rams, and Detroit will have a massive home-field advantage again for the divisional-round clash with Tampa Bay on Sunday at 3 p.m. Eastern on NBC.

Detroit reached the playoffs by winning the NFC North with a 12-5 record, while Tampa Bay won the NFC South at 9-8 as QB Baker Mayfield led the Bucs to a surprising season despite low preseason expectations.

Lions vs Bucs Divisional Round Analysis and Prediction

Dan Campbell’s team is the clear favorite in Sunday’s game. That’s understandable after the Lions’ impressive win over a Rams team that entered the postseason with seven wins over its final eight games of the regular season. Between the deafening noise inside Ford Field (the only indoor venue that will host a game this weekend) and the fanbase’s long wait for a playoff run, the Lions might have the best home-field advantage of any team playing this weekend.

The reasons to like Detroit are not limited to the boost it will get from its fans, though. The Lions offense has been dangerous all season, and it moved the ball at will to start last Sunday’s win over the Rams. But the unit struggled the rest of the way, and Goff and his team will have to be much more consistent from start to finish this weekend. Detroit’s D struggled at times this year, but it has played well in recent weeks. The Lions gave up just 20 points to Dallas in Week 17 and limited the Rams last weekend, especially in the red zone, well enough to advance.

The Buccaneers have the longest odds of any of the four teams still alive in the NFC, but Mayfield and the Bucs have a legit chance on Sunday. Mayfield has played well all season, and he lit up Philadelphia for 337 yards and three TDs while avoiding turnovers. In Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, Tampa has two receivers who can cause problems for the Detroit secondary, which gave up over 360 yards passing to Matthew Stafford last weekend.

This game will come down to whether the Bucs can finish drives, as it was Detroit’s red zone D that made the difference for the Lions against the Rams. Tampa will score enough to cover the spread, but the Lions will pull out another close win at home to advance to the NFC Championship Game.

Pick: Buccaneers (+6.5 at time of publishing)
