Liverpool, unbeaten since April 1, still have a chance at a top-four finish and a place in the ’23-24 Champions League, while Aston Villa remain in the mix for sixth place (and a likely spot in next year’s Europa League).

In Gaming Today’s breakdown of Liverpool vs. Aston Villa odds, props, and predictions, we analyze whether Villa can keep up with Jurgen Klopp’s red-hot club at Anfield.

Liverpool Roster, Injuries, and Betting News

At the moment, Liverpool look like the team that won the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020 — and contended for four trophies until the final days of the ’21-22 campaign.

Klopp’s side has a shot at a top-4 finish despite its surprisingly poor play through 29 matches (Liverpool were just 12-8-9 after drawing Arsenal on April 9).

But they haven’t lost in the EPL since that draw. While getting most of their players healthy has been a huge factor, the level of play has improved to a degree that can’t be explained solely by the return of players like Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, and Curtis Jones.

Liverpool have recorded three consecutive clean sheets, which has helped them outscore their opponents 20-7 during their seven-game win streak. That stretch has put the pressure on fourth-place Manchester United, who are one point ahead of Liverpool but have a game in hand.

Klopp has gotten one quality performance after another from 22-year-old Jones, who has three goals in the last four matches, including a brace against Leicester City last weekend. In nine games since Jones returned to the lineup on April 4, Liverpool are undefeated.

Liverpool’s top scorer this year is once again Mo Salah, who has 19 goals and 10 assists in 35 Premier League starts.

Injuries

He’s not injured, but Klopp will not be on the touchline on Saturday as he serves a suspension for his comments following Liverpool’s win over Tottenham in April.

Forward Darwin Nunez is questionable with a toe injury and midfielders Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago Alcantara both suffered season-ending injuries weeks ago.

Aston Villa Roster, Injuries, and Betting News

Brighton and Newcastle have (deservedly) gotten a lot of recognition for exceeding their preseason expectations, but Villa are also vastly improved from a year ago, when they finished 14th in the table. Under Unai Emery, this year’s team is currently in eight place, with an outside chance at a top-6 finish.

Their place in the standings is even more impressive given where they were in October, when Steven Gerrard was sacked and replaced by Emery. The Spaniard took over with Villa in danger of relegation, but quickly made an impact, getting the team into contention for European competition next season.

The key to Villa’s success has been a strong back line and keeper who have combined to allow just 44 goals (only six Premier League teams have given up fewer).

Emery’s side have won just two of their last five, but are coming off a 2-1 win over Tottenham last Saturday. In Villa’s last five games, they’ve been shut out twice and scored just four goals total.

Injuries

Aston Villa are not expected to be without any of their top players on Saturday.

Liverpool vs. Aston Villa Prediction: Liverpool 3, Aston Villa 0

Liverpool have lost just once at Anfield all season. Given this team’s current form, and how much is on the line, it doesn’t make sense to bet on anything other than another Liverpool win on Saturday.

Even if Nunez is unable to play due to his toe injury, the Reds can turn to Diogo Jota and/or Roberto Firmino if the starting front three of Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Luis Diaz fail to break through.

With so many attacking threats, a solidified midfield of Jones, Fabinho, and Jordan Henderson and a back line that has been solid in recent weeks, Liverpool should win comfortably.

It doesn’t help the case for Villa that they lost the first match-up between these teams 3-1 at home in their return following the World Cup break.

Here are a few other bets available at DraftKings that are worth checking out:
