Race 1

This very sad card opens with a field of five $12,500 claimers going 5-1/2 furlongs. No. 2 Whiskey Ginger drops into a good spot but we know little of the low profile jock Chris Russell, the last work is good, after him No. 1 Insubordination is the play. 1-2

Race 2

It doesn’t get any better here as we get only five 2yo maidens going 5-1/2 furlongs as most of the runners have already shipped to Del Mar for the big bucks. Doug O’Neill sends out two runners. No. 1 Tariq who is out of the dam Cape Discovery who has dropped 5 winners from 5 starters, he also sends out No. 2 Alleva who gets Bejarano up. The hot Jerry Hollendorfer sends out first-timer No. 3 More Ice with the bug boy Asa riding. The leading jock Figueroa gets on second-time starter No. 4 Hartel for Peter Miller, this one was well bet in his one start but was eased up by Mike Smith, he has come back to work great. No. 5 Owning is a first-timer for Simon Callaghan and the paid $260k for this colt, his last work says he is live. Look for the best price of the five runners and in the pick five hit the all button. ALL

Race 3

Just another five-horse field and this is before scratches, starter allowance runners go 5-1/2 furlongs. No. 5 Honeymoonz Over had a big work on the fourth and looks to be a solid single with a perfect post for this distance. 5**

Race 4

$6,250 runners go 5-1/2 furlongs, and we get an overflow field of six. No. 4 Come On Spanky gets longshot jockey Kellie McDaid, she will sit off the hot pace and make one late run. No. 6 Omdurman is the one to beat first off the Vallejo claim. 6***-4

Race 5

The pick five ends with a field of YES five runners going a mile for a $10k price tag, trainer Jacobson claimed No. 1 Hollywood Angel for $25k and now has him in for $10k, all is not good but Figueroa does get on. No. 4 South Americain drops and has a race over the course nine days ago, this is his race to lose. No. 5 Howdy owns a win over the track and is the stablemate of the Hollywood Angel. 4**-1-5

Race 6

$20k maiden fillies and mares go 5-1/2 furlongs, OMG we get a field of eight fillies and mares. No. 8 Irish Cream N Kafe gets a great post and looks the speed. No. 1 Swiss Chalet is the price play off the layoff, she was well bet here last year in her one start. 8***-1

Race 7

Starter allowance fillies and mares go the distance of choice 5-1/2 furlongs. No. 1 Peaked won here just ten days ago with ease. No. 2 Herunbridledpower is in top form and has won both of her starts here. No. 3 Coronado Cool has hit the board in all three of her starts here. No. 5 Tuscany Beauty blasted home ten days ago to win going away. 1-2-3-5

Race 8

With few horses, the folks at Los Al could only get an eight-race card ending with Calif. bred $50k maidens going, yes, 5-1/2 furlongs. No. 6 Livin On Prayer ran a good second in his one start at Santa Anita, he has the right running style here to win at a fair price, we will take our shot and single in the late $1 pick four. 6**
