I love to find small mom and pop type places around town. I’ll admit I’m late to the party on this place but to be honest, I just don’t get to this part of town that often. I had heard about this place for some time now and finally this past weekend I decided to take a drive out to Lulu’s Bread and Breakfast located at 6720 Skypointe Dr., Las Vegas.
Centennial is a bit of a drive from where I live but I can tell you it was worth the trip. Lulu’s Bread and Breakfast is open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., like so many of the good breakfast/lunch places we have in Las Vegas.
When I walked in I was greeted right away, and the girl asked if I had been there before. When I said no, she explained the menu and said to order at the counter. Then everything is brought to your table.
You could tell the employees enjoyed working there as she took her time with me when asking what my favorite items were. She showed me several on the menu and described them in detail. Her absolute favorite was what I decided on ordering and that was the Benecio Del Porko. Order this one if you are hungry.
They start with grilled cornbread topped with BBQ pulled pork, two over easy eggs, hollandaise sauce and charred corn. This was a hearty breakfast that was very good. The waitress had also suggested Lulu’s Breakfast Burrito, which someone at one of the nearby tables had ordered. It looked and smelled very good. Lulu has several breakfast sandwiches served on fresh baked rolls.
Lulu’s Bread and Breakfast, as you can tell by the name, is also known for their fresh breads and pastries. They have different featured breads every day of the week. Their pastry case has a full array of cakes and pastries to have with a cup of fresh coffee or to take home for later. One of the customer favorites is Lulu’s Cinnamon Rolls.
Their lunch menu features several salads and sandwiches. One is their “305.” It is their version of a Cuban sandwich and it comes with a cup of Cuban coffee. The owner was behind the counter running the register and was as friendly as could be, striking up a conversation with me while she was ringing up my order. You could feel her passion and pride in her restaurant. There is a real family atmosphere. I love finding and supporting places like this.
The food was excellent, the service great, and the price was very reasonable. I give Lulu’s Bread and Breakfast a rating of 3.75 Forks.
