Manchester City’s trip to Old Trafford for an intriguing Premier League battle highlights a big weekend for European soccer rivalry matches, as Barcelona hosts Real Madrid in La Liga and Christian Pulisic and AC Milan travel to Napoli on Sunday in Serie A.

In England, it’s all about whether Manchester United can continue to bounce back from a rough stretch in September against Manchester City. The reigning league champs suffered a rare stumble recently with Premier League losses to Wolves on Sept. 30 and Arsenal on Oct. 8.

Manchester United vs Manchester City Betting Tips

Manchester United are in eighth place in the Premier League through nine matches after struggling early in the season, largely due to injuries across the back line. Manager Erik ten Hag’s side has played better of late, though, with wins in three of its last four in the EPL.

Manchester City lost star midfielder Kevin de Bruyne to an injury in August, and for a few weeks, they managed to show no ill effects of being without one of the best players in the world thanks to their unmatched depth. They finally showed some vulnerability against Wolves and Arsenal, but responded well with a win over Brighton in their last league match on Oct. 21.

For Manchester United, the biggest question on Sunday is whether their makeshift back line (and inconsistent keeper Andre Onana) can hold up against Erling Haaland (who has three goals in his team’s last two matches) and City’s potent attack. Below are Both Teams to Score odds for Sunday.

Two other markets worth checking out are “first team to score” and First Half Over/Under, which is set at .

City jumped Brighton with a goal by Julian Alvarez in the seventh minute last weekend and starts like that are why they’re the heavy favorite to strike first at Old Trafford.

Manchester United vs Manchester City Player Props

Goalscorer Props

The props above show that oddsmakers expect no shortage of goals from City on Sunday.

With 19 goals in nine Premier League games this year, Pep Guardiola’s team has not been quite as prolific as usual, but Haaland, Alvarez, and whoever else joins them up top are a handful for any back line, much less one like ManU’s at the moment.

Manchester United is starting backups in multiple key positions (of ten Hag’s first-choice back four of Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, only Varane is expected to start on Sunday).

A big reason United is 5-0-4 this season after finishing third in the EPL a year ago is a lack of offense — this team has just 11 goals in nine games, and the only player with more than two goals on the year is midfielder Scott McTominay, with three. ManU’s forwards have produced a total of just one goal, by Marcus Rashford.

Manchester United vs Manchester City Analysis and Prediction

ManU have righted the ship to some degree with three wins in a row, but beating Brentford, Sheffield, and FC Copenhagen does not make them a great bet to take down Manchester City this weekend.

The home side is the more desperate of these two teams, and the crowd at Old Trafford will give United a lift, but it won’t be enough for them to knock off a City side that is currently tied for second place in the league.

The best value play in what feels like a closer game than oddsmakers expect is a Man City Win and Over 1.5 Goals Parlay (+100) at DraftKings.
