If you have been watching these tournament games and betting them, it can take a toll on you and your wallet. The excitement in the books was like a Super Bowl Sunday except lasting for days. Now we go to the Sweet 16.

So why do some head coaches make so much money? Well, just look at the big bucks they bring to the program as we get the usual high paid coaches and their teams back in the Sweet 16 with “slick” Rick Pitino, John (don’t mess with my NBA team) Calipari, Roy (this is for Dean) Williams, Tom (the magic man) Izzo, and Mike (I’m always here) Krzyzewski. That is why they make the big cash.

Oklahoma coach Ron Kruger brings his fifth different team to the Big Dance and fourth team to the Sweet 16. He builds, gets the big bucks and leaves.

Head coach Bo Ryan is making a habit of bringing his Badgers to the Dance and Sweet 16. He has a solid group that will be very dangerous if they can get by Roy Williams and his Tar Heels. That’s no gimme.

Sean Miller has his Arizona Wildcats set to go all the way and he has the team that matches up well with Kentucky. That would be the matchup to break records.

Head coach Mark Few of Gonzaga, whose win percentage is over .800 in his college coaching career, says don’t count out his Zags, 9 point favorite over (yes, I will say it) one of the two Cinderella teams in the Sweet 16, Steve Alford and his UCLA Bruins.

The other Cinderella is 8 seed North Carolina State who knocked off 1 seed Villanova. Upon getting back to Raleigh they were greeted with thunderous appreciation by the fans.

Head coach Mark Gottfried has his team high as a kite and they have a square shot at beating “slick” Rick and Louisville as a 3-point dog in a game that looks like a pick em.

Tom Izzo and his Michigan State Spartans are here again as a 7 seed and take on Kruger’s Sooners who are a 3. Oklahoma made a furious comeback to beat a stubborn Dayton team on Sunday to give Kruger his first cover in seven tournament games with the Sooners. The Spartans are a 2-point favorite over OU.

No. 1 seed Duke is just a 5-point favorite over Larry (Krysko) Krystkowiak’s 5 seed Utah Utes. I will love to hear the TV talking heads pronounce these two head coaches names as we get Mike Krzysewski for Duke and Larry K for Utah.

Head coach Chris Mack has done a wonderful job with his Xavier Musketeers to get them to the Sweet 16 as a 6 seed. They will take on 2 seed Arizona, which should be the end of the road for the Musketeers who are getting 11½ points. They will get some big bucks for the program.

No. 5 seed West Virginia has made a nice run to get this far, but it all comes to a screeching halt as they play Calipari and his NBA high powered Wildcats who are listed as a -13½ point chalk. You may want to take those points as the Wildcats look to be just playing to win and have yet to get a cover.

Coach Gregg Marshall leads his 7 seed Wichita State Shockers vs. 3 seed Notre Dame. Fighting Irish coach Mike Brey has withstood a lot with his mother Betty passing away the morning before his game with Butler. Brey is the third longest basketball coach in Notre Dame history, finishing up his fifth season. The 7 seed Shockers are a 1-point favorite. We will be taking the +1 with the Irish.

The 4 seed North Carolina is getting 5 points in its game with 1 seed Wisconsin who is trying to get back to the Final Four. We will be laying the 5 with Bo Ryan and his Badgers. With Wisconsin winning and Arizona beating Xavier we will have a wonderful match up of those powers. I make Arizona a 2-point favorite over Wisconsin.

This year’s version of March Madness has really lived up to the hype with the exception of the PC crowd not wanting the talking heads to use the words Cinderella as they say it is sexist.

Okay, sissies here we go, CINDERELLA, CINDERELLA!!!

Road trip: Will be heading to New Orleans this week as we continue our coverage of the road to the Triple Crown with the Louisiana Derby at the Fairgrounds. The race is worth 100 points. We will be talking about it in next week’s article.

In the meantime, get out and make a bet, and even bet on one of the Cinderella teams as you could be walking around lucky and not even know it.
