Get those weekend Ravens and Commanders bets ready, Maryland. Mobile sports betting formally launches tomorrow at 9 a.m. across the state.

Seven mobile sportsbooks will be issued licenses by Maryland Lottery and Gaming regulators for launch, MLG Director John Martin said in a press conference alongside Gov. Larry Hogan this morning. All seven successfully completed a test run for several hours on Monday.

These are the seven mobile sportsbooks launching in Maryland the day before Thanksgiving. They are listed here, along with their partners:

  • BetRivers – Bingo World
  • BetMGM – MGM National Harbor
  • DraftKings – Baltimore Ravens
  • Caesars – Horseshoe Casino Baltimore
  • PointsBet – Riverboat on the Potomac
  • Barstool – Hollywood Casino Perryville
  • FanDuel – Live! Casino and Hotel

It has been more than 18 months since Maryland legalized sports betting, including mobile sports betting, under legislation signed by Hogan last year.

Marylanders voted in favor of legal sports betting by referendum back in 2020.

“Earlier this year, I aggressively pushed for clear and definitive action and to implement a legal, transparent framework … in order to finally deliver what Marylanders had voted for,” Hogan said today. “I am pleased to announce that we are formally launching online sports betting in the state of Maryland tomorrow at 9 a.m.”

More Mobile, Retail Sportsbooks on the Way in Maryland

Three more sportsbooks  – Betfred, Fanatics, and betPARX  – are expected to be licensed soon but will not be ready for launch tomorrow, said Martin. All three were awarded licenses by the state’s Sports Wagering Application Review Commission last week.

“A timetable has not been set yet for when those entities will be able to launch,” said Martin.

There are more mobile and in-person sportsbooks in the pipeline for approval. Martin said as many as 11 mobile sportsbooks and six retail sportsbooks could be licensed soon. Additional licenses are expected to be awarded going forward.

According to Martin, “We anticipate that in late spring, early summer of 2023, prior to the kick-off of the next football season, the Maryland market will include up to 21 mobile entries and 15 and 20 facility licenses.”
