This place sure can serve up meatballs.

This week the wife and I ventured to Town Square to grab a bite to eat and catch a movie. Right across from the theatre was a restaurant called the Meatball Spot. I like meatballs so it got my attention.

I liked the urban look with the brick walls inside, and the bar set up. The restaurant is the latest creation of the very talented chef Carla Pellegrino. For those not familiar with Carla she was the executive chef at Rao’s when it opened here at Caesars. Carla was also chef at Bacio at the Trop before opening her own restaurant Bratalian in Henderson. The Meatball Spot combines great food with a hip place to hang out with friends.

The real reason we were here was meatballs. You get to choose from six different kinds. Each order gets you three with your choice of sauce and bread. I went with the Classic, which is a mixture of beef, veal and pork. Yes, these meatballs were just like mom use to make and incredibly good. You can order a side dish of pasta. Yes, I know that sounds backwards but, really, the meatballs are the stars of this show. The pastas are the costars.

My wife ordered their Garbage Salad and absolutely loved it. The dressing that comes with this salad was amazing. We also had to try their pizza, which is served by the tray. You can order a half or full tray. The pizza was good and a half tray is more than enough for two at $10.99.

I didn’t get to try any of the pasta dishes on this trip, but will be sure to try those on my next trip. Yes there will be a next trip – and it will be very soon. The final part that makes this place fun is the cocktails and desserts. If you’re not paying attention it’s easy to confuse the two.

They have cocktails such as the Root Beer Float that is made of Vodka, cream, vanilla liqueur and root beer. Nice adult dessert drink, but if you want a real dessert check out their milk shakes and gourmet ice cream sandwiches that will blow you away. They have such creations as the Strawberry Rainbow, which takes two sugar cookies with strawberry ice cream and rolls it all in rainbow sprinkles. They also have a mudslide and bananas foster ice cream sandwich.

If the ice cream sandwiches don’t do it for you try the gourmet milk shakes. They have a Birthday Cake milk shake and Peanut Paradise shake that caught my eye.

I think Carla hit a home run with this concept as it will play well to the hip crowd at Town Square. It’s a great spot to stop before or after a movie. If you want to catch a game there are plenty of TV’s as well. I give the Meatball Spot 3.75 Forks!
