Having gone into the game as underdogs, the Warriors relied on Steph Curry to pull off a miraculous upset. Still, they were disappointed as even a respectable 37-point performance from him was not enough to prevent the Lakers from staging a comeback late into the game. The Warriors have struggled to reach their usual heights this season despite Curry having his best statistical season ever. They will consider the game against the Grizzlies as a win-or-die chance and only the first of many uphill games to fulfill their lofty ambitions.

The Grizzlies themselves will not be looking forward to the game – in-form or not, Steph Curry and the Warriors are Steph Curry and the Warriors. But from their perspective, the game – and this season – is a free hit. With an incredibly young and inexperienced roster, the Grizzlies can’t realistically aim for the title. But post-season experience against championship teams can be precious for a franchise looking to build on this season and work towards higher ambitions. Of course – it’s not like the Grizzlies don’t have a shot at all. Ja Morant and co. have all the requisite skill to pull off an underdog upset, even against a team like the Lakers Warriors.

Fortuitously, both teams come into the game with minimal (new) injury problems, though the rest of the Warriors roster being unable to match Curry’s brilliance is quickly turning into a problem for them. It’ll be an interesting match-up tactically, with both teams looking to exploit each other’s glaring weaknesses.
