MLB Home Run Picks (08/08/2023)

Remember that the odds for home run props change throughout the day. This means the odds for our home run picks may differ from when you place a wager on them. This is why shopping the odds from the top sportsbooks is essential to maximizing your profits.
Matt Olson (+265, FanDuel)
If you have been following our home run picks all season, seeing Matt Olson‘s name here should not shock you. He is having the best season of his career, and a home run tonight would eclipse the 40-home-run mark for the first time.
He enters tonight with a .338 ISO and career highs in Barrel% (19.0%) and HardHit% (57.8%). It would be hard to imagine him getting any better than that, however, he has been on fire since the All-Star break. In 21 games, Olson is slashing .324/.429/.770 with a 202 wRC+, .446 ISO, and while his Barrel% is down to 17% (still unbelievably good), his HardHit% is up to 62.1%.
While he is not as good on the road, Olson is playing in a left-handed hitters ballpark and has a favorable matchup against Mitch Keller. Although Keller was an All-Star for the first time in his young career, the second half of the season has been a nightmare. In his four starts since the break, Keller has a 9.97 ERA and has allowed seven home runs in 21.2 IP, with a 10.5% Barrel%.
On the season, Keller ranks in the 84th percentile in HardHit% and the league’s top half in xSLG, xwOBA, K%, and BB%. However, he does not avoid barrels very often and his fastball, while much improved, has not been very effective lately.
According to BallParkPal.com, the wind is blowing out toward right center, which is the sweet spot for Olson to hit one out. He has been swinging a ridiculously hot bat, and he should be in an excellent spot to hit another one out tonight.
Francisco Lindor (+350, FanDuel)
It is safe to say that we have seen the last of Francisco Lindor‘s MVP-caliber seasons at the plate, but he still is a good offensive player. While he is not making as much contact on pitches in the zone and his strikeout rate is up to 21%, he has been smoking the ball this year.
Entering tonight, Lindor has career-highs in Barrel% (11.5%), HardHit% (46.1%), average exit velo (91.9 mph), and launch angle. His .227 ISO is also the highest it has been for Lindor since 2019 and despite hitting just .246, he still has been a very good offensive player, with a 123 wRC+.
Since the All-Star break, Lindor is slashing .275/.383/.450 with a 10% Barrel%. While he only has three home runs in 94 PAs and his ISO is down to .175 since the break, he is swinging an excellent bat right now and has a favorable matchup against Jameson Taillon.
Taillon is due for some slight positive regression, but his xERA of 5.11 and xFIP of 4.75 are certainly cornering. He also has a 1.44 HR/9 and his Barrel% is at 10.3%, which ranks in the 15th percentile. It also does not help that he has been awful against left-handed hitting, and while Lindor is slightly better at batting right-handed, he still has a .812 OPS and 13 home runs against righties.
MLB Home Run Prop Parlay Odds
You can parlay our MLB home run prop bets to maximize your winnings for tonight’s action. At FanDuel, our home run picks parlayed would give you +1543 odds, which means a $100 bettor would win $1,543 if both home run props cash tonight.
Keep in mind that the odds are so high for a reason. It is hard to pick a single home run prop, let alone a two-leg parlay. But our home run picks have been perfect at times this season, and if our home run picks for tonight hit, you will walk away with a nice chunk of change.
