Tampa Bay Rays at Chicago White Sox

Over/Under: 7.5

First pitch: 11:10 a.m. PT

Probable pitchers: Blake Snell (1-1, 3.46 ERA) vs. Carlos Rodon (1-1, 1.59 ERA)

I was unsuccessful with the under in Rodon’s last start but that was in no fault to the former third overall draft pick.

The Chicago left-hander followed up a pretty good season debut with a better outing his last time out, as Rodon limited the Indians to only one (unearned) run and allowed just three baserunners in six quality innings. He also struck out nine.

Rodon was a legitimate breakout candidate coming into the season and appears like he’s on the verge of (finally) harnessing his potential for a full campaign.

He could be in a matchup that’s pressed for runs this afternoon, going up against the reigning American League Cy Young. Snell is obviously dependable as it is but he draws what looks like a favorable matchup today.

Of course, Snell has established himself as one of the best strikeout artists in the league, and in this assignment, the 26-year-old will take on a lineup that struck out once every 3.25 at-bats opposite left-handed pitching a season ago.

In addition, Snell has excellent numbers (0.93 ERA, 1.03) in his four career dates with the White Sox. If he can provide something similar — or even close to it — we’ll be good on that side of the equation given Tampa’a superb relief core that has posted the second-best team ERA (2.20) among all bullpens. Play: WIN     UNDER 7.5 (-105)

Yesterday’s Result: Reds-Pirates Under 8 (loss)
