Bryce Harper Over Total Bases

Bryce Harper‘s season did not start until May, as he was recovering from UCL surgery in the offseason. While he batted .315 in his first month of games, he was not hitting the ball as hard as he usually does. 

In August, Harper found his power stroke, as he put up 10 home runs and had a .423 ISO with a Barrel% of 23%. This month, he is slumping a little bit, but his bat has been more active over the last 10 games, as he is slashing .243/.404/.595 with four home runs and a .420 wOBA. 

Tonight, he faces a struggling Mets team that is just trying to cross the finish line at this point. New York will send out Tylor Megill tonight, and while he has gotten the best of Harper in six career ABs, he has not been very good this season and is due for some significant regression. 

Megill also struggles against left-handed hitters, allowing a slash of .303/.382/.465. In this spot, with Harper starting to heat up and against a bad Mets pitching staff, he should be in for a big night. 

Ronald Acuna Jr Over Total Bases

The likely NL MVP is wrapping up a historic season. For the first time in baseball history, a player has hit 30+ home runs and has 60+ steals. He may not be done making history, however, as Ronald Acuna Jr. is just one home run and two stolen bases away from being the first member of the 40-70 club as well. 

It seems like Acuna is making history almost every single day, and it is not hard to see why. He enters tonight with 39 home runs, 100 RBI, and 140 runs. He also is slashing .335/.414/.592, which are career-highs across the board, and he ranks third in fWAR (7.6), just behind Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts. 

Acuna has a hit in seven straight games, and during that time, he has a slash of .3643/.371/.727 with a .448 wOBA and three home runs. After a somewhat down year last season, Acuna is also back to mashing lefties, and he has one of the worst left-handed pitchers in baseball on the mound tonight. 

Washington will send out Patrick Corbin, who continues to be shockingly terrible. Ever since his key contributions to the 2019 World Series Championship team, Corbin has not had an ERA below 4.66, is not striking guys out at a high clip anymore, and is giving up a ton of hard contact, especially to right-handed hitters. 

The Nationals surprised people with how frisky they were this season, especially during summer. However, the pitching is still a nightmare, and Acuna and the rest of this unbelievably talented Braves’ lineup should feast in this game.
