There’s nothing quite like the electricity of October baseball. Every home run and every strikeout is magnified. Bettors may not be lucky enough to feel the pulse of a packed ballpark, but they can inject a small dose of that adrenaline by placing MLB postseason player props and home run bets. Keep a close eye on the Atlanta Braves vs. Aaron Nola and Luis Severino vs. the Cleveland Guardians as those series shift to Philadelphia and Cleveland, respectively.

The industry’s top sportsbooks provide a number of MLB props, home run bets, and strikeout wagers that will suit baseball bettors’ tastes.

Home Run Bets

Trent Grisham vs. Tony Gonsolin

Grisham is an unlikely home run candidate given his regular-season output (.626 OPS), but he’s riding a bit of a postseason hot streak (5 for 14, 2 HR). Grisham has a homer and four hits in 10 at-bats against Gonsolin, who has pitched only two innings since Aug. 23. Grisham’s current form, combined with the presumptive rust that Gonsolin needs to polish off, makes him someone to keep a close eye on when the Dodgers and Padres kick-off Game 3.

Austin Riley vs. Aaron Nola

We’re highlighting the Braves’ Riley in spite of his late-season struggles (.206 BA in Sept.). Riley’s Game 2 performance was nothing to write home about, but don’t underestimate the power of small victories. After going 0-4 with three punchouts in Game 1, Riley recorded a base knock and did not strikeout. It doesn’t matter that his “base hit” was a well-placed infield dribbler. Sometimes it just takes getting on base in a win to flush away a funk. Finally, Riley owns Nola to the tune of a 1.229 OPS and three homers in 42 at-bats.

Ronald Acuna Jr. vs. Aaron Nola

Acuna has enjoyed even more success against Nola than Riley with four bombs and a 1.271 OPS in 36 at-bats. There’s more than enough statistical reason to place a wager on Acuna leaving Citizens Bank Park. Bettors who enjoy dancing with the psychological aspect of the game may consider Acuna’s mindset after taking a 96-mph heater off the funny bone, courtesy of Zack Wheeler. If ever there’s a time to “manufacture” a reason to hunt revenge, this is it.

Jose Ramirez vs. Luis Severino

The Yankees’ Severino has some “here it is, hit it” in his game, and Cleveland’s Ramirez is one of the relatively few guys who routinely accepts that challenge. He has three homers against Severino in 16 at-bats and hits much better from the left side this season (.918 vs. .729 OPS).

MLB Playoff Props: Strikeout Wagers

Lance McCullers vs. Seattle Mariners

McCullers only made eight starts this season with none coming against the Mariners. That’s advantage McCullers, who last faced Seattle on Sept. 16, 2021. Look for the Astros right-hander to lean on his curveball in Game 3 against a Mariners lineup that has not enjoyed much success against him.

Luis Severino Under vs. Cleveland Guardians

It may appear as if we’re picking on Severino here, but we’re not. Severino has demonstrated an ability to pitch well and win games even when he’s not racking up punchouts.

That’s a good thing because the Guardians do not make a habit of swinging and missing. They recorded the fewest strikeouts in the league this season, and bettors can safely anticipate another contact-driven approach when the series shifts to Cleveland in Game 3.
