MLB Strikeout Prop Picks (7/6/2023)

These are our three favorite MLB strikeout prop picks for Thursday’s slate. The odds on prop bets vary from book to book, so we recommend shopping around to find the best possible line before placing your bets.

Jose Berrios Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-130, DraftKings)

It hasn’t always been smooth sailing for the Blue Jays pitcher this season, but the veteran gets a favorable matchup on the road against the Chicago White Sox. One of our favorite MLB strikeout prop picks for July 6, take Berrios to go Over his total of 4.5.

Berrios is playing some of his best ball of the season, registering eight strikeouts in each of his last two starts, with a 29.6% and 34.8% strikeout rate. The pitcher had a .353 ERA in the month of June with 33 Ks while conceding 15 hits. Berrios is finding rhythm at the right time and faces a Chicago squad that has struggled at the plate. The White Sox have the sixth-worst batting average in the league over the past 30 days.

Tanner Bibee Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+105, BetMGM)

One of our other strikeout prop bets we like for today’s schedule is taking Tanner Bibee Over 6.5 strikeouts. The Guardians pitcher has played well of late and faces a Kansas City Royals lineup that has been unable to put together quality plate appearances.

In his last start, Bibee tallied nine strikeouts in a 6-0 win against the Chicago Cubs. The pitcher has a 3.46 ERA on the season with 67 strikeouts to his name. The strikeout total is a bit lofty but is available at plus-money at most sportsbooks.

The rookie sees a Royals lineup that has been struck out a league-leading 131 times in the last 30 days. Kansas City is one of the worst-performing road teams in the league, whereas the Guardians are in firm contention for first place in the AL Central. With rookie Bibee finding his groove on this talented Guardians team, we like him to hit his strikeout prop bet for today.

Julio Urias Under 4.5 (-130, DraftKings)

The Pittsburgh Pirates take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in tonight’s nightcap. In this cross-country matchup, we’re fading Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias. The lefty gets a difficult assignment, and we think he stays Under the 4.5 strikeout total.

Pittsburgh has fared well against left-handed pitchers. The Pirates have a .259 batting average and .408 slugging percentage against lefties, compared to .234 and .385 against righties. Urias has struggled in his recent starts on the mound. He was battered by the Royals last week, conceding six hits and five runs with just two strikeouts. Urias hasn’t eclipsed 4.5 strikeouts in any of his last four starts.

Urias started against Pittsburgh back in April. Although he registered five strikeouts in the loss, the Pirates notched seven hits and two home runs against him.
