Orlando has only lost three of their all-time matchups against Atlanta, their last match resulted in a 1-1 draw back in May. Scoring goals during this match were Orlando’s Kyle Smith and Atlanta’s Tyler Wolff in an 86th-minute equalizer. Possession drew almost right down the middle with Orlando holding 51% of the match in their possession and Atlanta 49%. This will be another evenly-matched game as both teams have lost their footing and struggle to stay consistent.
Both teams are coming off losses from earlier this week and will need to make some changes heading into Saturday’s match. Atlanta has only lost one of its 11 home matches this season so far, scoring at least twice in each of the last five home games. Atlanta has been taking home-field advantage to a different level. While Orlando took a massive 4-0 loss on the road at Salt Lake last week, it has not recorded two losses in a row yet this season.
For Atlanta, fans should keep an eye out for Giorgos Giakoumakis. After his performance against D.C. United two weeks ago, Giakoumakis has 10 goals on the season so far, only making 16 appearances this year. The striker has been added to the MLS Team of the Matchday multiple times this season and was recently named to the MLS All-Star Team. After two scoreless games, the Greece native will be looking to put one in the back of the net for Atlanta.
On Orlando’s squad, Facundo Torres is tied as the club’s leading scorer with seven goals on the season so far. In his last three matches, Torres has gotten 11 shots off and two goals. He has proven to be a go-to guy on the pitch and will continue to take the shots for Orlando. Tied with Torres is Duncan McGuire, recording seven goals and two assists this season.

While it will be a competitive game to watch, all signs show Atlanta will walk away with the win. Atlanta has been able to play to the level of higher-ranked teams in the league and has kept up on the pitch. Orlando has had a successful year so far as well but has not traveled well on road matches. Atlanta will continue its record of scoring two goals per match at home with the competitive and equally matched game this is expected to be, resulting in a 2-1 win.
Prediction: Atlanta 2, Orlando 1 | Over 2.5 goals
