Tacos in Chinatown?

I was heading home Saturday night from a poker session on the Strip. No big surprise, but after a long night at the poker table I like to grab a bite to eat on my way home.

As I was driving through Chinatown, I saw a place I hadn’t noticed before. Mas Por Favor Taqueria y Tequila, located at 3879 Spring Mountain Road, was brand new and tacos sounded really good at 1 a.m.

They actually had just opened the day before, and honestly, the service was just fine as you couldn’t tell they had only been open a little over 24 hours.

They have several different styles of tacos along with different options of proteins to put into your tacos. Street tacos are $3.50 and come in four different styles as well as 10 different proteins to pick from. They have traditional tacos served in corn or flour hard and soft shells. If you don’t want it as a taco you can get it as a bowl.

Mas Por Favor has their own signature tacos as well and I tried one of them in addition to a couple of traditional tacos. They have seven signature tacos and the one I tried was called Cheese’N. It had ground beef, white cheddar, nacho cheese, Pico and sour cream in a fried cheese shell.

This taco was incredible, and the fried cheese shell was so good. My other tacos were just traditional flour with Carne Asada and the meat was delicious. I will be back to try several other of their tacos, but I have to tell you about the bonus part to Mas Por Favor.

As I was sitting there enjoying my tacos people kept coming in and going through this doorway in the back wall. Where was everyone going? Then I would see different people coming out. Alright, what’s going on here?

As I finished my meal, I took a walk through the door and it was like I was walking through a tunnel complete with rock looking walls. At the end of this tunnel looking hallway was another doorway so I opened it and inside was a hidden bar or as they refer to it “The Parlor. ”It was a very hip cocktail lounge with a DJ playing music with cool paintings and a large mural on the one wall.

They make specialty cocktails that are both pleasing to your eyes as well as your taste buds. This is quickly going to become a very hot night spot with the younger locals and this plaza is already busy on a nightly basis as the Golden Tiki Bar is also in this same strip mall.

I was completely blown away by the cocktail lounge and with how good the food was at Mas Por Favor.

I have a feeling as word gets around it’s going to be hard to get in here for tacos at night with the club in the back. But trust me, the tacos are worth the trip.

Since they open at 11 a.m. daily I may have more visits for lunch than late night. The Parlor opens daily at 4 p.m. I give Mas Por Favor Taqueria y Tequila a Rating of 3.75 Forks.
