One of the great Mexican restaurants in Las Vegas is Nacho Daddy’s. They have two locations currently. One is downtown at 113 N. 4th Street and the other is at 9560 W. Sahara Avenue in Summerlin.
Nacho Daddy’s will be opening a third spot this September on Las Vegas Boulevard and Harmon Avenue. In anticipation of the new location some new menu items have been added to an already vast selection. I had the pleasure of attending a special tasting of the new menu items at the Summerlin location and they were delicious.
My wife Lori and I started off with some frozen Margaritas. Lori had the Peach and I had the Blackberry. Both were excellent but I have to admit, on a hot Las Vegas summer day the Peach was very refreshing.
You can’t go to a Mexican restaurant without enjoying chips and salsa. I love their chips, which are thin and crisp, and prefer this style to the thicker style a lot of restaurants serve. Both are good I just prefer thin.
They served the chips with two different salsas, a mild one and one with some kick to it. We also had their Queso Dip, which is a white queso, and it was very good. The chef sent out one of the new items, the Sizzling Shrimp appetizer. These were excellent.
Next up the chef sent out two new nacho plates. The first was their Lobster and Crab Nachos topped with a mango salsa. I am going to tell you that these were hands down the best nachos I ever had. They were loaded with lobster and crabmeat. Simply amazing and a must try if you like seafood.
The second new nacho was their Sloppy Jose. This is a fun nacho that is topped with sloppy Joe meat. This was very good as well but having lobster and crab on one plate and sloppy Joes on the other, I’m sorry, but I’m human. A nice variation to the classic nacho. My wife was a big fan of the Sloppy Jose.
For the entrees we got to try the Fish Tacos, Vegan Chicken and Pork Tamales. The fish tacos were excellent. Even my non-seafood-loving wife tried them and said they were good. The vegan chicken nachos were good. Nacho Daddy’s actually has a very large vegan menu for its customers, something you don’t see at a lot of restaurants.
For dessert they had us try their Cinnamon Apple Nachos, which were amazing served with ice cream. This was a great way to end a meal. It was so good that now when I come back do I go with my go-to dessert Fried Ice Cream or the Cinnamon Apple Nachos? That is what we call a win-win situation.
The final item was their famous Scorpion Shot. It was a shot of tequila with a scorpion in it. Yes, I said a scorpion. The people in our party that tried it liked it. I’ll just have to take their word for it.
Nacho Daddy’s has a great bar area if you want to hang out and watch games as they have plenty of TV’s and a giant big screen. I give Nacho Daddy’s a rating of 3.75 Forks.
