Wayne Ellington : SG LA Lakers
After a two-game spurt that saw Ellington put up 40.1 and 33.5 fantasy points in back-to-back games, the Laker’s SG has come back down to Earth a little bit, averaging 17.9 fantasy points in the 4 games since. Anyone watching new his offensive explosion wasn’t going to last, but he’s demonstrated the potential to flash on any given night and that’s extremely promising for those daily fantasy player seeking value tonight at the SG position. With a salary of $5,000 and a favorable matchup against the Nuggets, who surrender the 7th most fantasy points on average to opposing Guards (37.5 on average), this could be one of those nights where Ellington puts the team on his back. His value comes almost exclusively from his scoring (not surprising for a SG), but having shown that he’s capable of going off for 20+ on any given night, he’s a solid play tonight.
Brian Roberts : PG Charlotte Hornets
Since starting to fill in for Kemba Walker after his knee injury and subsequent surgery, Roberts has performed admirably, averaging 22 fantasy points per game. He’s a decent scoring threat for the Hornets, but his real value has come from his ability to limit the turnovers and distribute the ball, racking up assists in the process. And while he has yet to really go off for a big fantasy night, what’s promising for potential fantasy owners is his average minute total; in his 7 games as starter, he’s averaged 34.1 minutes on the floor and has only played fewer than 33 minutes once in that span. He’s shown an inconsistency when it comes to putting up points, bouncing between double-digit totals and single-digit disappointments, but with a low salary of $5,100, Roberts is a great guy to slot in at your PG2 slot so you can save up for other slots.
Marvin Williams: PF Charlotte Hornets
Williams has been a steady presence for the Hornets since returning from his concussion, outplaying Cody Zeller from off the bench in pretty much every facet of the game, and it’s shown itself in the minutes he’s logged. In the four games since his return, he’s averaged 24.5 minutes per game and has registered double-digit point totals in back-to-back games now against Indiana and Philadelphia, against whom he racked up 30.7 fantasy points thanks to a full stat-line of 13 points 6 boards and 3 assists to go along with 1 block and 3 steals. At $4,200, he’s a definite bargain at the PF position tonight, and with a reasonably favorable match-up against the Lakers who give up 37.0 fantasy points on average to opposing Forwards (11th most in the league), Williams could once again put up 25+ fantasy points tonight.
