Betting Favorites To Win 2023 NBA Finals MVP

The Denver Nuggets have moved on to the NBA Finals, and they did so by taking down LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in four games. They are favored to win the NBA Finals at most of the top US sports betting apps and have the consensus favorite to win the NBA Finals MVP, Nikola Jokic.

In the series against the Lakers, Jokic was hilariously unstoppable, and he proved why he should have been the MVP for the third-straight season. In four games, Jokic recorded three triple-doubles, averaging 27.7 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 11.7 assists per game.

Behind Jokic is another guy who has elevated his game in the playoffs, Jimmy Butler. With only one game left to go before Miami becomes the first eighth seed to reach the NBA Finals since the 1999 New York Knicks, Butler’s odds of winning NBA Finals MVP continue to get shorter. In the playoffs, Butler is averaging 30 points per game on 51.1% shooting from the field, and he has been Mr. Clutch in this series, leading Miami to two big comebacks on the road.

The Heat still have one game to go, but because no team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit, there is a good chance they represent the East in the Finals. However, you can still get NBA Finals MVP odds for Jayson Tatum, who opened the postseason as one of the favorites to win NBA Finals MVP, and the rest of his Celtics teammates, including Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart.

Among other favorites to win the 2023 NBA Finals MVP are Jamal Murray, Bam Adebayo, Michael Porter Jr., and Kyle Lowry.

Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets (-220)

The two-time MVP has left his mark on the playoffs, as he turned in another fantastic performance in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals. This is the first time Jokic will play in the NBA Finals, and not only has he been performing as he usually does, but he is shooting 47.1% from deep in the playoffs. And every game, it seems as though he makes an unbelievable circus shot that is flat-out unguardable.

The Joker is averaging a triple-double in the postseason, and the Nuggets, who have only lost three times in the playoffs, are playing like they are the best team in basketball. With so much talent on the roster, that may diminish Jokic’s true odds of winning NBA Finals MVP, but even watching this team for five minutes is all you need to know that Jokic is the best and most dominating player in the league right now.

He is now favored to win NBA Finals MVP, and while all the value is gone for Jokic’ ‘s odds, make sure you keep your eye on odd movement so you can strike while Jokic’s odds of winning Finals MVP are worth it.

His MVP odds will only get shorter if Denver losses a game in the Finals, so make sure you check the odds after every game.

Jimmy Butler, Miami Heat (+300)

We’re starting to run out of things to say about how special Jimmy Butler is.

It was a tough regular season for Miami, and they almost didn’t recover from injuries and overall bad chemistry as they were minutes away from being eliminated in the Play-In Tournament. However, since that last-minute comeback against the Bulls, Miami and Butler have been on fire, losing only three games in the playoffs.

Although Miami is playing like a well-balanced team, it has been all Butler that has the Heat up 3-0 in the Eastern Conference Finals. He scored nine-straight points after Grant Williams decided it was time to trash talk en route to a Game 2 victory, and the Heat responded with a 26-point Game 3 ass-whooping.

Butler is averaging 26 points per game in this series, and while his shooting numbers are down, he is taking more shots in this series. This is probably because whenever Miami is ready for a “thanks for coming out” basket, Butler is the guy taking that shot. He has still been an overwhelming force on both ends of the court, and as a result, Butler now has the second-best odds of winning Finals MVP.

Jamal Murray, Denver Nuggets (+1200)

This has been a massive postseason for Murray, who proved he can be a reliable second option to Jokic. He has always had some great playoff performances, especially in the COVID-19 bubble, but this year, he has taken his game to another level.

Murray is putting up 27.9 points per game on 41.2% shooting from deep, and in the WCF against the Lakers, Murray scored 32.5 points per night, including a 31-point first-half performance in Game 3. Not only is he making his threes at a high clip, but he is shooting them at a high volume. He did not make a three in Game 4, but in the first three games of the series, Murray shot 11 threes per game, making five of them per night.

If Murray continues to be a lethal scoring threat, he should get plenty of looks considering how deep Denver’s rotation is. If he gets the opportunity, he will make you pay.

Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics (+1700)

It feels very sad putting Tatum here because he has been just terrible in the Eastern Conference Finals. It also does not help that Boston is down 0-3 to an eighth seed and has to play an elimination game in Miami, coming off one of the more uninspiring team performances I have ever seen.

Although he has two 30-point outings this series, Tatum only has three shot attempts in the fourth quarter against the Heat. He is also averaging four turnovers per game, all of which have seemingly come at the most inopportune time.

Still, Tatum is the best player on the Celtics, and the odds reflect that. Tatum’s odds of winning NBA Finals MVP may have dropped significantly since the start of the postseason, but if you believe that Boston is in good shape to come back from down 3-0, Tatum’s odds are never going to be more attractive than this.

This means we may see a name we would not expect to take home the NBA Finals MVP, and if that happens, it will be a big payday for those who take the chance.
