LaMelo Ball – Over 3.5 3-pointers Made
Live:
Last season, Ball averaged 23.3 points and 37.6 percent shooting from downtown per game with the Charlotte Hornets. He led the team in scoring, and he should continue to be one of the star performers on offense for the team.
Ball is a consistent threat from 3-point range. There were only five games he played in where he was limited to less than 3-pointers made. On the other side of the ball, Atlanta is average statistically when it comes to defending threes.
While Ball hasn’t made more than two 3-pointers in any of the four preseason games, we expect far more volume and playing time in the opener against the Hawks. And in that, he should start the season with at least a four-pack of 3-point makes.
Nikola Vucevic – Over 11.5 Rebounds
Live:
Chicago has had a taste of the postseason in recent years, but they were nearly swept by Milwaukee two years ago while they couldn’t get past the play-in round last season. This year, they look to make the next step and have a competitive group in the postseason.
You shouldn’t read a whole lot into the preseason. But even knowing that, Vucevic has been a stud with 20-10 double-doubles in the last two games with more playing time. He seems ready to go and will have a good matchup against the Thunder.
Considering the rebounds he’s racked up, having the number at just over 11.5 seems very approachable. Comparing it to last season, Vucevic averaged 11 rebounds per game. He was able to collect 12+ rebounds in 39 games and stunningly appeared in all 82 games. In only two games did he play less than 20 minutes.
Kyrie Irving – Over 28.5 Points
Live:
It’s hard not to put some money on newcomer Victor Wembanyama, who is the preseason favorite for NBA’s Rookie of the Year. However, we’re going to flip the other way and see how he handles a few of the NBA’s top scorers, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
Both players have been dealing with minor injuries, but it’s Irving who looks more healthy heading into the season opener. He played 27 minutes in the final preseason game and finished with 17 points, 11 assists, and 8 boards.
Both Doncic and Irving are being offered at similar point totals, so we’ll take Irving here. Doncic may end up being limited, and if he’s not able to go, that’ll provide even more opportunity for Irving to soar past this total.
