802 Drake–   Playing without its leading scorer, ShanQuan Hemphill, who was averaging 14.1 points and 6.3 rebounds before undergoing surgery for a broken foot suffered last week, the Bulldogs (19-2, 10-2) were beaten decisively by Loyola Chicago 81-54 yesterday, after leading by 3 at the half. The 2 teams will meet again today.

803  Marquette–   Beaten badly at Villanova Wednesday, the Golden Eagles were missing injured freshman fowards Justin Lewis ( ankle ) ( 8.1p 6r ) and
Oso Ighodora ( non-factor ) No update.

809  Bradley–  Lost to Missouri State yesterday 80-58 without 4 impact players who were suspended for “violations of program standards” in an announcement made 30 minutes before tipoff. Top player Elijah Childs ( 14.2p 8.3r )  senior Danya Kingsby ( 4p 1.6a ), guard Terry Nolan Jr ( 11.2p 3.3a ). and forward Ja’Shon Henry ( 10.7p 4.7r )will sit out again for the rematch Sunday, and that their suspensions will be re-evaluated next week.

Those 4 players include Bradley’s three leading scorers, three starters, its only two seniors, its starting guard tandem and its sixth man.

828-  Arizona State–  The team will be missing at least two players and could be without as many as five against a team to whom it lost earlier this season on the road 80-79 on a dunk at the buzzer.  The Sun Devils were down to just 8 scholarship players against Oregon on Thursday after two players went down including freshman forward Marcus Bagley ( 30m 11.8p 6.1r )  and junior forward Chris Osten ( 18m 3.3p 2.8r ) went down with ankle injuries during Wednesday’s practice. Freshman guard Josh Christopher ( 30m 14.3p 4.7r ) (leg) was also injured. Christopher started but took a hard fall after blocking a shot three minutes into the game and was pulled.  They also didn’t have junior Taeshon Cherry ( 16m 4p ) (personal) and freshman Pavlo Dziuba ( non-factor ) (COVID).

812- Southern Illinois–  Blown out by Illinois State ( which had lost it’s previous 6 games )  yesterday 80-55, the team dropped its third game in its last four and played its eighth straight game without Marcus Domask, its leading scorer and second-leading rebounder. Will try to bounce back in Rematch today after that sorry performance.

815  Pitt–  Coach Capel said thatthat some of his players are “a little bit banged up.”
He said on his Thursday radio show that Foward Justin Champagnie had a slight hand injury and didn’t practice Monday and Tuesday. Capel said Champagnie practiced with no limitations Thursday.  Champagnie leads the ACC in scoring (19.2) and rebounding (12)

822  Oral Roberts–  Max Abmas scored a career-high 42 while Kevin Obanor had 18 points with 11 rebounds to lead ORU past South Dakota State 103-86 Saturday in the opener of a two-game series. Sheldon Stevens, who entered averaging only 3.3, scored 16 points filling in for third-leading scorer, RJ Glasper, who was sidelined due to illness. No update on status.

823  Miami Florida–  head coach Jim Larrañaga said that the team expects impact starting guard Chris Lykes ( 2g 29m 15.5p 5.5a 91fs% ) to return this week after not having played since early December. The preseason all-league selection has been limited to two games because of a left ankle injury.

Valparaiso – Lottich announced after the game that freshman sharpshooter Connor Barrett will miss the remainder of the season after suffering an ankle injury last weekend against Drake. Barrett finishes his freshman season having started 13 games and leading the team with 31 3-pointers. Barrett averaged 6.5 points and shot 39.7 percent from the perimeter.
